Nature protection - Sorting and cleaning packaging

CHILDREN’S AGE: 4-5 years old

OBJECTIVES: The child knows that we sort packaging (glass, paper, cardboard, packaging, bio-waste). The child knows shapes and colors. The child knows letters K,P,T. The child can move the Ozobot robot.

ACTIVITY:
We talked about sorting packaging. What color trash bins have we seen (yellow, blue, green)? What kind of different trash there is (glass, cardboard, paper, packaging, bio-waste)? We play a movement game: the child picks a card. Looks at it and decides what kind of trash that is? The child hops on the right track to the trash bin. They have to know the right color and shapes.

When some children were playing the movement game the others were able to play two different sorting games behind the table. The same pictures were used. In one you had to sort the pictures to the right place.

Then we tried to clean the forest with a help of machine and children had to make Ozobot robot to move. At first they made a trash cleaning plow for the Ozobot (from cardboard). Then the teacher gave them paper with pictures of trees and trash bin. The child had to draw with special marker a way to the Ozobot robot. The ways had to be so that the Ozobot with the plow will gather the trash and move it to trash bin.

When the trail was ready the child put robot in the beginning and watched if it was able to gather all the trash. if needed they were able to draw more lines so that all trash would be gathered from the forest.

Our Forest - Paper recycling and tree making

This activity started with recycling old papers we had in our bin. Children were ripping the paper, mixing in with water, squeezing and rolling it out with pins.

The end result were new papers that they can use for their art activity "The Spring Tree"

 OUR FOREST

By speaking about forest it is also very important to educate children about the importance of having our forest clean and not to throw waste in it. All groups learned about types of waste, why it is important to sort waste into different containers. They watched also educative movies and cartoons on the topic.

Children went out and cleaned up their favourite path in forest. The garbage they found, they placed in the respective containers.

Children portrayed their clean country in their drawings and paintings.

After that they clarified what can be done with used paper and other trash - we can use it for other purposes (games, creating something new and even creating art). Used paper can be used to create paper and also paper items, like bowl.

OUR SEA - RECYCLING

 Save the planet

Recycling means turning garbage into something new. The great in this is that most things can be recycled.

We decided with the children to turn the plastic bottles we collected from the beach into something different!

We present you our cute octopuses...
