Our Forest - visit to another forest and beach!

Our kindergarten is surrounded of lovely mixed forest with soft moss like floor. Near is also the beach forest with tall pine trees that tickle the sky and play hissing music when the wind blows. When you need peace or mind pampering just take a walk to the sea side, where you feel the force and beauty of nature and under your toes the soft sand.

This is all so familiar to us that group Sinilill decided to visit someplace new and discover it!

So they planned a trip to Meremõisa hikingtrails (https://www.visitestonia.com/en/meremoisa-beach-and-camping-area)

It is interesting how the details of the nature are the same but the look is totally different. When the Pirita area is very flat and smooth then the Meremõisa beach like undetected pearl. The Lohusalu bay is like wild sandy beach with pine trees. When you are on the beach then on your right side is Türisalu cliff and other hand Lohusalu peninsula.

The sea is as beautiful as in our home Pirita but in Meremõisa the beach is covered with different plants. Us charmed European searocket with violet flower.

Cute and well-known pine trees grow here, but the landscape under them is with little hills.

So if you want to pick blueberries and lingonberries you have to climb up and down.

These trips to the nature show very clearly the difference between town and pure nature. In town from the bus window you can see big houses, lots of cars and many people walking around. And the more far you drive from the town the more pure nature you can see. More trees, fields and sea.

And in each hiking trip you get hungry. So all the travelers sat down for a bite.

Being in nature is just great :)

Our sea - Estonia is a sea state!

Theme: Estonia - Sea state part II.

Children age: 5-6 years

Objectives: The child gets acquainted with the biggest mammal of Baltic sea. The child is creative and knows how to make cooperation in groupwork. The child send knowingly their sad thoughts to the sea. The child gets to know new concept - expedition. The child can measure with measuring tape. The child explores with family members more about gray seal and crafts it (draws, models, sews, folds) at home.

Tools: three about 5 meter ropes. Three measuring tapes. Three A4 size thicker paper, on one written Saaremaa, one Hiiumaa and one Muhu. Warm and comfortable clothing and shoes.

Preparation: Previous days the children have investigates the map of Estonia and compared the three islands (Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Muhu - size, position, shape).

Activity: The teacher lets the children know that staff meeting will be in 5 minutes.

They all clean the room and they go to the "office". In the beginning of staff meeting one "worker" says todays date and day. In the meeting they learn that today they are going on expedition - "The Baltic sea biggist mammal". Who could it be? How big can grow a gray seal? Has anybody seen a gray seal? What it looks like? We look pictures of gray seal.

What does mean expedition? Discussion about it.

Before they start to go on expedition the members prepare themselves with yoga. It balances mind and gives strength and power for the expedition.

They go to the seaside with a brisk walk and following traffic rules. Finally on the beach.

Who wants can make a sad thoughts sending away ritual on the beach. Sending sad thoughts with good words to the sea and getting back good feeling and happy thoughts.

Then the group leaders (chosen in the morning) gather their group. On the will of the lottery each group gets one island what they will make with the help of a rope. This time it is important to look where they are located.

Then the groups made gray seal from the ropes on the sand. And measured it with measuring tape.

The first crafted gray seals the children made at home with families:

Our sea - Hiking!

Theme: Pirita beach in winter
Children age: 6-7 years

Objectives: The child can start games and develop game content. The child can describe the beach in winter times. The child knows rules of safe behavior in water bodies in winter.

Tools: Clothing according to cold winter day. For fishing game necessary fishing gear. And Stop sign for crossing streets.
Preparations: The teacher lets everybody know that they are going to the beach. Explains safe behavior rules. The children and teachers put on reflective vests.

Activity: The group goes to the hike to the beach. They discover snowy beach forest area. On the beach they look what is to see on horizon. Weather was cold and foggy. The sea was frozen on the beach side. Through the fog you could see a gig ship. We look and explore if it is safe to go on sea ice. From afar we could see the sea without ice.
The teacher sets limit how far the children can go on sea ice. We played two games that were leaded by teacher "Fisherman" and "Polar bears".
The children made a game themselves "Snow angels" and then thought out a game "Salt mining". The snow was gritty as a salt that day. The children game up with the comparison.

The hike went very well. The children liked running and playing on the beach.

OUR SEA - IT'S SUMMER

 let it be Summer

Pomorie is a seaside town and we are always looking forward to summer. This year, summer came earlier in kindergarten. The children made their own beach - sand, sea, umbrellas...

We also created a large panel that literally transports you to where the warm sun caresses the senses ...

OUR SEA - ON THE BEACH

Clean beach - clean sea - bold dreams

We often go to the beach ... children love the sea. Pomorie is a town located on a peninsula and the sea is almost everywhere. When we walk where the water touches the sand we want it to be clean, the water to be crystal clear ... that's why we help nature to be like that. Our children take care of their favorite sea ... except that they clean it, they sing songs about the sea, the brave sailors and the sea creatures.

Our Sea - “Amazing Beaches of Cyprus”

As a Mediterranean island, Cyprus, has many beautiful beaches.

Children has many and direct experiences at sea!

We have asked children to bring photos of the seas they visited or/and they would like to visit and they presented them to their classmates.

The next days we have talked about the sea and beaches of each district of Cyprus island.

We have seen photos, presentations and looked for information of many of Cyprus’ beaches.

We have learnt what the “Blue Flag” award is and discovered that most of our beaches havereceived this award.

We ‘ve actually learnt some of them.

We have also discussed about organized and not organized beaches and what their characteristics are in each case and learnt about Natura 2000.

Later on, children drew pictures of our sea and beaches and prepared a poster with some of our amazing beaches.

We have also remembered our beaches that  are located at the occupied area of our country. We have seen pictures  of  a very beautiful and famous, golden sandy beach in the town of Famagusta before the Turkish invasion and compared them with photos of this certain beach in Famagusta nowadays, after the Turkish invasion. Famagusta city is now known as Ghost City.

Children expressed their feelings and made wishes that this beach and the rest of the occupied island to be free again and people enjoy once again their time in this beach and other occupied beaches of our island. The last two drawings are about Famagusta Beach before and after the Turkish invasion in 1974.
