Children were observing the tree stump with a magnifier. They observed tree rings and discussed how they notice a lot of circular lines and some of them being wider than the others. They also had a chance to explore the tree rings with their hands to see the difference in the elevation of some of the lines.
After that activity we gave the children an opportunity to express themselves through art using special watercolor technique that makes the tree rings more real and vivid.
