Our exploration
of animals in Croatia started with a group of children conversing about animals
that they have seen when they were on summer holiday break.
One girl saw
some big fish jumping out of the sea while she was on a ferryboat. That fish
was a dolphin. And one boy saw chickens while he was with his grandma in the
village. He remembers the name of the chickens because they have unusual names.
They are called Croatian Hen.
We then watched
a few documentaries that talk about animals that are specific to our country.
The animals
that children found the most interesting are: boar, lynx, fallow deer, boškarin
cattle, bear, donkey, Croatian hen, salamander, viper, Lipizzaner horse,
dolphin and olm.
The children
have never seen most of these animals in person and they wanted to do something
to help them remember them. We decided to make a poster. The children drew
animals, wrote names and pasted animals on part of Croatia where the animal
lives.
