Nature Protection - Water, fishes and trash

 CHILDREN’S AGE: 3-4 years old

OBJECTIVES: The child knows where there is water in nature and how it goes round. The child knows different states of water: ice, fog, cloud, rain. The child knows that bodies of water are rivers, lakes and seas. The child knows that packaging does not dissolve in water and is dangerous to nature and animals. The child sees water drops and gets to know where it goes in the pipes.

ACTIVITY:
Because we found the plastic bag in the sea water the children wanted to know how it got there. So we agreed that they will ask about it from their parents and we will research the theme more the next day.

So today's activity we started with the question: What is water? We like water: we like to drink it, it has the same taste and does not smell. Water starts from a drop, many drops together is water. Then we tried to find places in our group where we have water and put pictures of the Drop there so we can say hello to it every day! Water is see through so it doesn’t leave a trace but if you put some color in it then you can see it.
Water comes to us through pipes and in nature from clouds!
We discussed what kind of state the water can be in nature. Then we were talking about how important water is - to the people and nature.
Next we discussed: Why can’t we throw away ice cream and cookies packaging on the beach? Because it is dangerous to the birds and fishes. They could eat it and die. So we started to craft a fish who ate too much packaging. At first we examined different packaging types: plastic, paper, thin plastic bags. We talked about why they are dangerous for nature and animals.

At first we looked what kind of packaging we have.

The teacher had prepared a fish from cardboard and a plastic bag. So the children started to feed the fish with packaging.

And  in the end we colored the fish.

WHO WANTS TO EAT THE FISH?
